Corn I.D. needed!

My neighbor came to me saying he caught a snake, knowing I am a snake person. I believe it is a Anery Corn, but I am used to ball pythons, so if someone could please verify it, or tell me im wrong and what it really is id greatly appriciate it!

Side note, I still live at home so my dad was sketchy about me getting my ball, so I never ever expected him to let me get another so I was completely shocked when he told me I could keep this one! Ive wanted a corn for a while in this morph (granted im correct in my corn belief) so im super stoked about it!!!

Ok cool thanks! do you think they are they common out in the wild or do you think someones pet got loose?? I live in the PA, DE, MD area (middle east coast) and to be honest I dont think Ive ever seen even a normal corn in the wild.

Hmm, interesting. well (if it was a pet) I feel bad for whoever it got away from. I put something on facebook about finding it so if someone comes to me (or puts a missing snake sign up) guess ill give it back. otherwise its mine now! its tiny too, id say about a 10-12". i havent fussed with it much im letting it settle in before I weigh/measure it and all.

That looks more like a Black Rat snake hatchling than a Corn snake to me. I dunno if Black Rats are common for your area, but you could look it up. From the picture you provided, it certainly looks more like a Black Rat, though.

Yeah, that baby's head doesn't seem to have any of the usual corn marker, its most likely a baby rat snake. Not a whole lot different than corns, but they do get a bit bigger. I have a "corn snake" thats probably a corn/rat mix or even possibly just a pure grey rat (the previous owner bought it from a shop as a corn though), and she's a sweetheart, but she's also nearly 6'.

Looks like a hatchling grey rat snake to me.

Hmm alright, is there any deffinite way to tell the difference? like, underside, eyes, ect??

EDIT: Yes I have seen a few black rats/black racers around here, but they are all generally black with no gray.

The head markings are all wrong for a cornsnake. Black rat seems to fit :)
As they grow/mature the color and pattern can change a lot.
