this thing plows through mice!

I have kept BPs for awhile, and just got my first bci a week ago. I fed him two mice a few days ago, because he appeared a bit thin when I got him. I can't believe the feeding response!
Another really good thing about this snake, is that he can differentiate between feeding time, and when I'm picking him up for handling. He smells that mouse, and WHAM! But when it's just my hand, he is inquisitive, and his neck is relaxed.
I am going to be switching him to baby rats soon. I read somewhere that you can feed them small rabbits when fully grown. Can you get away with just using large rats instead? (if not, I will use rabbits, just wonderin'.)

I guess you will have to feed them a whole bunch of large Rats if you are going to go that route. I heard somewhere that you can feed them Chickens(?). All you gotta do is find a farm and voila, ur set.

My friend has a farm that is loaded with chickens. I mean, they are on every available surface in their horse barn. I wonder if she would notice if a few were missing every so often. :)

BCI's stay smaller than BCC's, which would probably need rabbits when fully grown. I am planning on trying to keep my gal on rats when she's an adult, but of course it all depends on just how big she gets.

A full grown BCI will eat Colossal or Jumbo rats......no need for larger than that. If you do feed your snake a bird, you'll only do it once.......the smell of the feces is enough to gag a horse, TRUST me lol. Don't do it.

I thought the uh... remains of rats and mice were bad enough. I'll just have to take your word about the whole bird thing :shock:

I have read about that, in this one bci book. Maybe rabbits would be a cleaner choice for the future. :)

What about broiler chickens, like the kind you would buy at the store. Its all clean and skinned and It does not have any poop on the inside :P
