Getting Nervous

    Hi folks,

My 03' BP (Rex) is eating like a champ, drinking regularly, is in ideal temps and humidity and is growing nicely. All is well there.

But, she hasn't passed urates or feces in 4-5 weeks, and I'm getting nervous. She appears healthy and strong. I've soaked, massaged, even tried cheerleading :) and nothing.

    Should I be nervous?

    Thanks,

    Ken

You probably scared her with the cheerleading. I'm sure she's fine. They just have a really slow metabolism. Does she have an unusually firm lower belly, any redness or streaking on her belly (not like pre-shed pink), or a swollen vent? If not, it should just be slow metabolism. If you still haven't seen anything in a week, you can take her to the vet to double-check.

i wouldn't be just yet. My hydra went about 2 months without defacating or passing urates. I took her in to the vet and turned out she had pin worms. Dunno if thats why but he said someimtes they jsut won't go. Kinda like when they won't eat. Who knows, but I would give it about 2 more weeks and then i would be concerned myself.

Does she have a water bowl big enough to hop in? Some will not go elsewhere for some reason (scent masking??) - any time I put Neph in the bath for a swim it's just like pushing a button - within 2 minutes she funkifies the water.

It couldn't be the cheerleading. I look quite fetching in my little outfit. (5'11', 220 lbs. balding, beard)

Yeah, she's got a big water bowl, and I even soaked her to "encourage" her.

    LOL! I want pictures!

My gopher goes long stretches between urates and poops. It makes me nervous sometimes, but I guess it's just natural for his body. :)
