    Early breeding?
My pewter pair is locked up at the moment which is pretty early but they both took last season off so i cooled them early and i guess it worked!
Does anyone else have any early breeding going on?

Yup, I've got a Killerbee and a Silver Streak locking this morning! That Killerbee locked with a Killer Blast last week. I'm really really looking forward to seeing these pairings produce!

My season this year started with eggs hatching on April 1st. I've got a clutch in the incubator scheduled to pip on October 7th, so my "season" is really spread out.

Nothing wrong with a full year of excitement. ;)

Ball pythons will breed year around , I have never understood this "theoretical," breeding season. Ive had multiple pairs locking since beginning in july.

Ive been trying to get my bps to breed year round and this is the first year its really happened. I have eggs in the incubator, 2 females getting ready to lay, 1 female with follicles, 3 females I just started breeding again for the 2012-2013 season...So no, its not too late or too early.

exactly how many months do you guys give a female between laying eggs and breeding again? my girl laid in april and is at 1600 now when do you guys think she is good to start pairing?

    Re: Early breeding?
Depends. I wait until my girls not only have reached their weight before breeding last year (preferably more) but also look healthy, round and overall in good health. If all that applies, the soonest I will start breeding them is 6-7 months after they lay. However, Ive also noticed that most of my girls tend to develop follicles the same time every year, so if they need a few more months to gain weight back I dont get too concerned.

So all of you that breed year round, do you all change the temperature in the beginning of november (or your preferred date) still?

I never cool. My females seem to be on their own cycle, so I just go with what they want to do. Its actually pretty common for my girls to lay with a week of their last years clutch.
