Incubation medium

I have heard of using vermiculite (sorry if the spelling is off ) and hatchrite im asking your opinions on which one is better. I am also looking for some tips on how to set it up correctly. This is my first breeding season coming up I am trying to get as much info and help as I can.

I plan on using either Vermiculite or Perlite. Hatchrite is practically the same thing, but more expensive.

Personally, I like going by Brian Gundy's egg box Medium:Water ratio. It's equal weights of water and medium.

i use superhatch its a ceramic base mix but can be used over and over by just boiling the stuff to sanitise it ive always had great luck with it and it holds moisture very well its half water half super hatch and if it gets too dry in spots it changes colors so you can see where it needs more water during incubation

I use vermiculite and when mixing, I add water until I can grab a handful and squeeze it into clumps without water coming out. I then add water or more vermiculite if necessary until I get the mixture correct. I use 5.5 qt sterilite shoebox containers (with locking lids) and once I have the vermiculite and eggs in the container, I put a sheet of cling wrap on the container before I put the lid on as well.

Perlite under egg crate, add water done.
No mixing, no worrying about a correct amount of water.
