Ideas/pics for custom enclosure??

I'm beginning to think of things I can do for a new enclosure for my Moya eventually. She's my Suriname and is still under 5ft but I know she is going to be huge and heavy in the next few years.

She's currently in a 4x2 Boaphile but eventually I'd like to give her a little more height with room for a large branch or two.

I'm thinking an enclosed wooden cage with thick plexi front door. Tile bottom and one tile height up the sides from there. Radiant heat panels? Flex watt on the inside possibly? A couple vents near the top of course and a fluorescent strip light on the inside top for light.

Does anyone have any pictures of a nice cage that has some height that I can get ideas from for a large boa?

I would heat the cage with a radiant heat panel and not even worry about trying to rig flexwatt inside the enclosure.

CFL or Linear tube fluorescent lights will help keep the air temperature up (by a degree or 2) if you don't want the viewing lights to mess with the cage temperatures look into LED lights.

I like the tile floored cages... I'm working on setting one up for my bearded dragon. I hadn't thought of putting any tiles up the walls, I might have to steal that idea :D

Yeah that cage is like what I want to do. Considering she is semi arboreal and only wants to climb when she's out, I feel bad for her always being in such a low height enclosure.. I want her to have a nice display but I also want to be able to keep it the proper temp and humidity.

The one tile height up the sides idea I actually got from looking at dragon cages :)

It helps prevent the poop splatter in the corners and up the sides from getting on the cage when they go right along the wall. Which is what Moya loves to do!

Edit from first post: I noticed my mistake.. Moya is under 6ft now.. Not under 5ft. She's about 5 1/2 ft.

www.constictorsnw.com These are awesome , but, they are custom and price would be high. I plan on getting some built one day, just not in the near future.

Have you looked into local cabinet builders? I'm in luck because a local cabinet builder near me is also into snakes. GRITS on this forum, or Beanie. He's actually building me some racks right now. Beanie also builds cages to house his snakes, sell at shows, and custom orders.

I like that top cage Jason, I may have to look into local cabinet makers as well.

Foschi, I have been thinking about getting a boaphile for my baby boa, I had the same concern though. Were you able to put enough climbing material in when your snake was young? Thanks and good luck.
