What Species of Spider?

What species of spider makes this kind of web?
My dad and I were on the trail in one of the parks he helps maintain for Darke county, OH.

Looks like a banana spider web to me

Have to be pretty big, whatever it is.

I'm not expert, but I did work at a botanical garden where we had a few banana spiders that seemed to like our rose bushes.

I'd say banana spider is a decent bet, but I'm not sure if they live that far north.

I saw a web looked like that one time in a little town called Canaima. :O

I looked up some info on banana spiders and don't see how this could be the spider. I don't think their normal range extends this far north. The spider I saw in the web was maybe a half inch (legs included) in all. The main part of the web was about a foot across.

Looks like a black orb weavers web from what i can tell. and banana spiders have a golden colored web so definately not a banana.
