Ball python is super active lately

My little guy is moving around quite alot lately. Is there a certain time a year when they move around more or what, because the temps are good and I have no idea why he would be climbing around and moving so much lately.

Tub or cage? Introduce any new smells or lighting changes lately? I've found my guy likes to check things out sometimes if I'm making racket or I set something unusual smelling down near him. Could be getting ready for breeding season. I don't really know.

He's in a cage in the same spot he has always been in. No changes that I can think of, he is still too small to be getting ready to breed I would imagine unless the young ones exhibit the same behavior.

Male? Breeding time probably. Cool him off a bit he should settle down a bit ;)

Shouldn't be hungry, I feed him an undersized mouse every 3-4 days.

How much does he weigh? I would check for things like mites carefully however unlikely and perhaps do a fecal exam. The fecal I would suggest no matter what the snake is doing anyway as many snakes have parasites and they can easily be treated so there is little reason why not. (my experience is 1 in 10 have parasites) I check yearly myself. A large number of feeders have parasites and freezing can kill everything it often isn't cold enough or long enough to do so. (-7ºC for 6 weeks I believe not sure)

That aside I don't really expect to see either young animals often get pokey as the seasons change as long as he is eating the same way there are no husbandry issues. Typically snakes will not feed if the husbandry is outside that animals tolerance.

That's weird cause I was noticing the same thing with mine. Way super active past few days. Not hungry cause I just fed a few days ago. Nothing has changed with smells or environment. I don't know why?

He could be stressed, if your cage isn't making him secure enough. Probably breeding time though.
