Newbie Terms.
So, I hear these words thrown around quite a bit. Can someone define them for me (and the other newbies that may need to know). It's difficult to look at a snake and know exactly what is being described. A picture with arrows would be great? ;)
Things like flames, blush, alien heads, ringer.... All that.
If this has been done before, I apologize, just send me that direction.
Thanks.

This post - Click-me is a post from here that has pictoral tutorials to some morphs. They are very interesting in their own right- and I'm pretty sure the answers to all of your questions are there, and much easier than me typing out what they are - cause there are pictures! And pictures are awesome. :P

This is blushing: http://www.nextworldexotics.com/images/hpastel4.jpg
Where the bold colors fade (such as the black patterns on normals and pastels)
Read this for ringers: http://ball-pythons.net/forums/showt...ds-and-Ringers
The saddle patterns on BPs are called "alien heads" due to their obvious shape of looking like ET heads: http://www.nextworldexotics.com/images/cincir.jpg
This photo has blushing and flames: http://www.nextworldexotics.com/images/cinblflhd.jpg
Green = blushing
Dark purple = flames

Ok here goes: (this is my male fire).
Red arrow on the right is blushing. Red arrow on the left shows a headstamp or blushing on the head. Blue arrow is a ringer mark thats hard to see. Its looks kinda just like an orange stain on his stomach. Ringers show up randomnly and can vary a bit. Im not entirely sure what they are tbh.

These arrows are all pointing to alien heads. The top one actually looks like an alien head with two eyes and everything. Hence the namesake lol. Towards the end of his body the alien heads melt together into stretched out shapes.

Lastly, flames. Flames basically mean like blushing coming up from the bottom up the sides. When i here flames, i think yellowbellies bc a good yellowbelly should have awesome flames. Id still consider what the red arrows are pointing to in this pic to be flames. Because its blushing coming up, or flaming up if you will, the sides of her. In some parts of her the flames go all the way around her body to create nice blushing.

If im wrong on any of these someone please correct me. These terms, imo at least, sorta have some give on them where you dont have to associate the word with something exactly. Like an alien head has to look like this or whatever. Hope this helps!

This is my 100% het pied ringer:

Her white spot and discoloration is why she is called a ringer an not just a 100% het pied

Re: Newbie Terms.
Helpful, folks. Thanks.
And liking the pictures. Gives ya'll an excuse to show off your snakies. ;)

Now, just to set my information straight, ringers have nothing to do with pied or het pied? Totally separate genetics? Perhaps a type of paradox?
-
As far as I know, just because a Bp has a ringer does not mean it is het for pied.
I've seen the parents of my girl, and the breeders are allowing me to come with her next year to breed with their pied male.

Re: Newbie Terms.
Anybody else want to show off one of their snakes with some of these traits. Just point an arrow towards the characteristic being described.
Any other new folks want to use this opportunity to ask some related questions? I'm just using this opportunity to pick brains and learn.
I really oughta' just buy a book.
