Thinking about buy a Rack System...
Hello, I'm thinking about buying a rack system for my two snakes.
I'm looking for one that houses at the most Three tubs and can hold
both a Corn Snake and Ball Python for the rest of there lives.

I'm short on cash and I'm in college so I don't have the time nor handy
skills to bother with building one.

I was looking at this one http://www.cserpents.com/C_Serpents/V-70.html

Looks nice but I'm unsure of the measurements and need feedback on if this can house
my snakes when they're fully grown. I don't want to buy a rack system only to have to
replace it in a year or so because my snakes got to large to be comfortable in them.

If you have any suggestions for a cheaper rack or better quality one, I'm all ears..
Trying to keep costs low though.

    Thank you. -HSJ

I saw the C-Serpent racks at a local reptile show a few months back and I really wasn't impressed with them. I would reccommend Animal Plastics or Reptile Basics racks.

A CB-70 size tub would be fine but because of the different temperature requirements of the 2 species I wouldn't recommend a single rack.

Racks require the room that they are in to be heated to at least 75 degrees year round. You need to consider the cost of heating the room.

Have you considered a PVC cage? You could get a single Animal Plastics T8 cage with a divider and house both snakes for the rest of their lives.

Here is a thread I wrote on PVC cages: http://ball-pythons.net/forums/showt...With-Pictures!

I on the other hand have dealt with C Serpents, currently own one of his racks and love it. Nothing is wrong with the rack at all. Chris is the new guy as far as making racks goes so every day he improves that much more. Like I said my rack is perfect, I truthfully see no flaws with it.

But back on point, the V70 will fit the ball perfect and would be more than enough for the corn. Like mentioned though, two very different animals being housed together. Unless you have individual plugs for each row of heat tape and individual thermostats, it may be hard to pull off.

I live in Georgia so the temperature of the room will not be a problem. My AC is a constant 75 and the room with the snakes in them is hotter than that or at least it sure does feel like it.

I thought about a PVC cage (and they're very cool) but with tubes cleaning is much easier for me. Just slide out and clean and slide back in.

Currently my snakes are in two separate glass cages and both have Thermostats w/ probes and two digital thermometers w/ probes (One on each Side)
Do you really think one rack for the two different species of snake is going to be a problem?

I'm new to racks and as I said at the beginning of the thread, I don't have a lot of time or handy skills. Haha, so the less tinkering and the less adjustments, and assembly there is, the better. :D
I kinda want a "plug and play" rack so to speak.. Kind of nervous now about a rack.

Chris is a great guy. I have his hatchling rack which I have no complaints about.

I saw his racks at the Fire show in Orlando this past weekend, I was impressed. I have a Reptile Basics rack now, and I'm planning on a C Serpents rack in December at the Repticon in Orlando.

Love the PVC cage but they are not practical for someone like me. I currently own nine BPs and my electricity bill will skyrocket if I had a couple of those cages. Rack system is better because my girlfriend will not kill me when the electricity bill comes in.

Maybe you can ask the person who is building the rack to wire the shelves separately? That is a simple solution.

Just a quick question, how were you planning on housing corns and balls in the same rack? Racks generally have a single hot side temp and cool side temp. The royals hot spot ideal temp is to high for corns and the corns cool side ideal to low for balls. Did I understand this is your plan? If I am correct have you looked at stackable enclosures it would be easier to hold the correct temps for the corns and balls independently.

Animal Plastics people are good folk. I'd contact them and see if they can't rig just the top 1/2 of a rack with flexwatt so you can keep your balls and corns in the same system.
