Opinions Wanted It's a Toss Up
I am torn between a Bloodred corn and a Black and White Banded king. Both caught my eye while browsing http://www.generalexotics.com/ for supplies and animals. Which snake in the forums opinion will give me less trouble and live longest.?

I love both kings and corns. They're fantastic animals. Both are unique, so I'd recommend trying to see if you can interact with some locally before making a decision.

Kings are notorious for being a little bit... nippy. Attitude and a pretty good feeding response. This can result in bites occuring sometimes. But, I wouldn't let that put you off of them. They aren't all like that. But they definitely do have a ton of 'personality'.

Corns I find to be a little more easy to handle. They are laid back, not quite as nippy, still a good feeding response and come in a variety of colors. Every corn I've met has been pretty chill. But, I find my corn to be a very active snake to handle. She is always going, always exploring and wanting to 'go-go-go'. The kings I've handled tend to be more slow and not as 'spazzy' about being held.

Each animal is different. At the end of the day, think about what you'll enjoy and feel comfortable with. If the idea of getting bitten makes you leery, I'd go with the Corn snake. If you like a snake with a big dose of personality, I'd go with the King.

That is exactly the kind of response I was hoping for, Vasiliki, thank you very much.

Both are awesome animals. I do prefer the king snakes over corns though since they can get a little bit bigger, but that's just my opinion.

You're very welcome! I hope that it works out well for you. I absolutely love my corn snake. She's fantastic. But like I said, very active.

But that's why I have my leopard gecko. He's nice and chill, so I can sit and hang out with him if I need a nice calm handling day.

I would love to get a King too. They just have huge personalities. They will give you 'looks' that you swear are intelligently calculating.

Kings are awesome for that too.

I should get you a picture and weight of my corn snake, though. She's an absolute tank. Bigger than some adult Kings I've handled. Took her out when she arrived and I was floored at how big she was. Nice hefty girl! So yes, that's a great point! Some corns do stay small. I'd personally go with a nice, big female. They get nice and thick.
