Kenyan sand boa wont eat! help!

Hey my gf bought a baby kenyan sand boa and it hasn't eaten since she bought it. I keep it at my place. We brought it home on August 11th. It has not eaten since then. Its been almost a month! I wouldn't be as concerned if this was an adult but this is a baby less than a foot in length and barely an inch wide. It moves around and it seems active but it wont eat anything.
We keep it in a 10 gallon with Zilla desert blend as a substrate. I cant let the little guy die my girlfriend would be crushed.
Any and all advice would be welcome and is needed!

Can you tell us about the enclosure you have it in? How many hides? What kind of heat source? What are the temperatures of the tank? What are you trying to feed it? Anything that might be helpful!

Its a 10 gallon glass tank. screen top. Theres like 2 inches of the Zilla Desert Blend substrate which Im pretty sure is crushed walnut?(correct me if I'm wrong).
He has a small water dish and thats all. There is a UTH on one side with temps in the lower 90s. Ive attempted to feed him pinkies. Frozen and live.

Try giving it a few hides it may be stressed and not eating because it doesnt feel secure.

I had the same problem when I got my Kenyan. He did not eat for me the first 8 weeks I had him and he was just a baby. I got him to eat by leaving in a live pinky over night. Woke up the next morning and it was gone. He ate like for 3 weeks in a row for me until he finally started taking it right out of my hand. Now he eats whatever I put in front of him. I would not worry to much. I know it is tough to deal with but just be patient.

Well he does burrow into his substrate so you don't even see him until he comes up. Wouldn't he feel secure enough being burrowed?
Also since he has a fine ground sandlike walnut shell substrate. shouldn't I be worried about him eating it and getting impacted if I leave a picky in there overnight?

Not exactly sure what that substrate looks like. But I don't think that's a major concern.

You could leave the pinkie on a napkin / paper towel. Might help with worry about him eating substrate

SO we put him in a small paper bag with a live pinkie and left him for around 4 hours. I was planning on leaving him for the whole night but I wanted to check to make sure before I left him all night. And GUESS WHAT!? He ate the pinkie. so we are good now! Thanks for all your help and we are feeling much better!
