Question about Savannah Monitors

I don't own one yet, but there will be one in my future. I have loved them for years. I just had a couple of questions about their housing size. Well, first, how fast do they grow? What would be a suitable size home for them to start in? And how soon would I need to upgrade them? I just want to make sure I am well prepared for when I do finally decide to make the purchase. Thanks for any help.

they grow darn fast check out the post of Cera and Littlefoot, if housed properly and fed right they will grow very quick. A final cage of preferably 8'x4'x4' or larger with the first two feet of it being a dirt or substrate they can burrow in should be built sooner than later.

Almost adult size in the first year of life give or take is the average from what I've experienced working with bosc, niles, indicus complex, blackthroats etc... Suitable size home? 8x4x4. Don't bother making a smaller cage just to upgrade in a few months. Build the large one now, use it now, save you time and money. If you can't afford/have the space to do it now, from the start- you can't afford to properly keep or house this monitor.

During peak growth, Littlefoot was putting on an inch a week.

I started my Savs out from day one in an 8x4x4 and they use every inch of that enclosure, I am in the planning stages of building another 8x4x4 and joining the two cages into one that is 16 feet total length.

These lizards when given the right amount of heat are hellions, they are very active, and even as babies were still looking for more space.
