Are ball pythons a good first snake to breed?
I was just wondering if you should get experience breeding corn snakes or something before you start breeding BP's?
I obviously have quite a bit of research to do if I ever breed, but I wouldn't do it for money.

Bps imo are very easy.. However.
Like you stated there is lots of research needed on your end! Dont jump into it too soon. It is alot of work!!

It will be years down the line if I decide to breed :) I only have a normal 2012 male, now.

ball pythons make a pretty good first breeder snake. Just do your research beforehand. But there really isn't anything too difficult about them.

Thanks! I'm just looking over general information now, but maybe in 2 or 3 years I'll buy a female BP and do some serious researching. Any suggested morphs? I would breed her to my normal BP :) Planning to keep most of the babies unless I find a buyer or two.

I started with a lesser male. And 3 normal females.

I sold the babies and upgraded my collection.

    1.1 lesser
    1.1 cinny
    1.0 pinstripe
    1.1 spider
    0.1 pastel

All will be bred this year except the 0.1 spider as shes only a 2011 girl

They are definitely one of the easier snake to breed, so long as you have done your research and done it well.

    Good luck in your endeavors!

They're great starters in my opinion because of their small clutch size. You can get your feet wet with 1-2 pairings without the risk of being overwhelmed with dozens of babies.

Thanks everyone! My BP is still a baby, so I'm still learning with him (He's a picky feeder), but thought it might be (don't think "fun" or "cool" is the right word) something I'd like to do in the future. Not anytime soon though :) I will definitely come back for more help when I actually do!

Ball pythons are very easy to breed. Feeding and selling babies is easily the most difficult part of the whole process. I could produce thousands of ball pythons each year if I had someone to buy all the babies right out of the egg. I'm serious.
