First BP and Having Trouble Keeping Humidity Up
We just got our first snake and we're having some issues with the humidity levels. Temp-wise everythinv is fine. We use coco husk for bedding and have moved his water dish to the warm side of his tank. We also mist a couple times throughout the day. HELP!!!!
Re: First BP and Having Trouble Keeping Humidity Up
It tough to keep the humidity up with a screen top. It will basically be close to environment humidity.
I started out with my first few bp's in 10 gallon tanks. I found it necessary to use aspen and some dampened sphagm moss in 2-3 areas in the tank. The sphagm is nice cause you will likely find your sheds wrapped around it. I was able to keep my humidity at 60% without covering the screen at all. You may need to cover a portion of the screen with foil or something.
Re: First BP and Having Trouble Keeping Humidity Up
Thanks for the advice guys!! We talked to our neighbour, who rescues reptiles and has been working with them for years, advised us to spray the tank down completely a few times a day....we diid that twice, turned the heat lamp off, and, guess what? The humidity levels went up to between 50-60 and have stayed there since!! Thanks again for your help with this!!
Re: First BP and Having Trouble Keeping Humidity Up
I use Saran Rap to cover half of the screen top.
