reptarium question

Can i use a "reptarium" with screened sides for a bci, if I also provide a humid hide, and if the main cage heat comes from the room outside of the cage being heated t the right temperature? If not, I'll go with rubbermaid, but I can get a great deal on a 175 gal-equivelant reptarium and it'd be a good size for the future.
I could always cover the sides with plastic to retain humidity as needed, right?

Sounds like it could be really difficult to maintain. He could injure himself by rubbing his nose on the screen trying to get out. And if the entire room is heated to a specific temperature, then how will you maintain the proper gradient? They have to have a cool area to retreat to, as well as the proper warmth for digestion. All in all, I'd go with the rubbermaid. I've never heard anything good about keeping a snake in a screened cage.

I think you will be better off with a rubbermaid, esp. since your snake is small. I personally wouldn't use a Reptarium for a BCI....I would be worried about them pushing through a seam or tearing the screen and getting out, not to mention the heating/humidity issues I would have, although it sounds like you have planned well for those.
I think it'd be too big for a baby, and he'd be stressed.

Ditto what Judy and Randy said.....Reptariums are for Chameleons.

True. Chameleons can become stressed if they don't feel moving air, it's made for them. And herps that don't require high temps and high humidity.

I wouldn't put any boa in a reptarium.
My ghubby hates them as you can not always clearly see inside the screening. Plus a boid is juswt to heavy bodied (or will be) for a reptarium.

Thanks guys. I am not using the reptarium. I'll use the cash i was gonna spend on that, and either setup a rubbermaid or a bigger aquarium. He's so little now, I just have him in a 20-g long tank. Thanks again!
