    Premature baby?
I had a baby hatch today, her egg was laid on 7/4. She looks premature but other than her appearence she seems healthy (able to move around on her own without wobbling) what would cause this to happen, and what are her chances of surviving?

What temperature are you incubating at? Why do you think its premature? the pic looks ok to me, can't see a yolk attached

My male incubator stays 88-89 F and they hatch in 30-40 days and my females at 82-83 and they hatch in 40-60 days

She/he was incubated at 83°. I think she's premature because she looks so much different than the other 7 babies to hatch, even the snow, with giant eyed compared to her head, the lack of a pot belly, and the yolk sack that fell off. She still looks gooey/shiny even though she hatched a full day ago. She is still alive and strong 24 hours later so I take that as a good sign :)

Just keep it a bit more humid. I've had tiny babies hatch and they catch up eventually. Most healthy babies hatch around 3 grams.

Usually premature babies are a lot darker than your normal babies. Sometimes they just hatch to early, Ive had a few do that as well and all made it.
