Transporting BPs

There is a reptile museum/shop about 40 minutes from me that does free sexing and a quick once over health inspection. I am thinking of taking Clyde there just to make sure he is in fact a he. I know my new guy Craig is a male as that is what the breeder in town here has said. Anyhow I was wondering if I need any special conditions for transporting Clyde there and back. Like a smaller version of his plastic tub home with some of those small oxygen activated heating pads or something. It's been pretty hot here lately and I will find it hard to not have the a/c going on the drive but I don't wanna freeze my lil fella.

keep the AC off, or as low as possible. You want to keep him as close to 80 degrees as you can. heat packs probably aren't necessary this time of year.

a tub is perfect for transporting. I would look for one that isn't transparent (so it acts like a big hide) to help reduce the stress created by transporting him.

I don't have to transport my balls often but when I do (insert Dos Equis commercial here) I have something similar to below to transport them. From my understanding a snake getting too hot is more of an issue than a snake getting too cold, it shouldn't be an issue having your a/c on.

I like the idea of a non transparent tub for transporting. Would the a/c really be that much of an issue for a 40 minute drive? I wouldn't have it on full blast with the windows up, I just wouldn't think it would much of an issue for a relatively short drive.

Simple pillow case. Works, its secure, cheap, and easy. Colder rather than hotter temps as stayed and have fun.

This :number1: You could then place the pillow case in a cooler, so it is not affected by the A/C in the car.

I just did this very thing the other day. I kept AC off and used a pillow case crock hunter style lol

I'd bring your thermometer in the car with you. On an 80 degree day with my windows and sunroof open, the few inches just above my car seat can reach 90. Better yet, put the probe for the thermometer IN the box or cooler and adjust the A/C as needed.

The A/C might be solid, just don't have the snake in anything that it gets a 'draft' ... put it in a bag or pillow case in a cooler or box and keep the cooler or box out of the direct breeze of the A/C.

I place my Bp in a pillowcase that I tie up. Then he's placed in a Rubbermaid tub. The first time I took Bobba to the vet he peed :/ thank goodness he was in a tub as well or snake pee would've been all over my car
