First week of being a BP mommy

So I got my first BP last Saturday at the Daytona Reptile expo. She is a beauty and I instantly fell in love with her. She weighed in at 89g. She ate a live rat pink (what she was used to getting) Sunday (the day after she came home). I left her alone completely until Friday, when I picked up 2 rat pinks to give f/t a try. She ate the f/t without hesitation (the spare live was p/k'd and froze for next feeding), yay *happy dance* and weighed her in before feeding at 103g. I waited 2 days after the feed to handle her for the first time. Yesterday we held her for around 5-10mins and I *might* have gotten her out again right before bed time for another 5 mins....oops. Anyways, so this evening I went to lift up her hot side hide to check the probe (she likes to move the probe out of her way) and low and behold I find a full shed! Eye caps and all! Another YAY moment :) So..my question..does shedding normally take 7-12 days, and if that is the case, that means she ate 2x and was handled without coping an attitude all during a shed cycle, that's a good thing right? lol. I'll snap a couple post shed pics tomorrow out in the sun light. I'm such a happy BP mommy right now :)

You can use a few drops from a hot glue gun to hold the probe in place maybe?

Just avoid anything sticky like tape - it tends to end badly. :(

They shed quite quickly when they are young and it takes longer when they get to adult size. She probably went into blue and back out of it between the sunday and friday when you were letting her settle in. :)

Thanks :) I was planning on doing a hot glue fix on the probe when I changed out her bedding. Definitely no sticky any where near my girl!

I place my probe on the heat tape (or UTH whichever) and set it for 92 in which case my hotspots stay about 89-90 inside the tubs and that way the snake wont bump or move the probe or get caught up on any adhesive you use to secure the probe...

Sounds like yours is well behaved like mine. She never gets an attitude and is a great eater.

The probe is for a thermometer not the tstat right? If it is for the tstat place it between the tank bottom and the uth so it can't move and over heat.

I'm sorry, I didn't specify. I mean my Thermometer probe is in the tank, under the hot hide on the glass. She moves the substrate and sits on the glass under the hide. My thermostat probe is on the UTH under the tank and keeps it between 90-92 on the glass surface according to temp gun. So her moving the thermometer probe isn't a huge issue right now. I check her temps with the gun every day, the probe / thermometer unit is just nice to be able to walk by and see a reading without bothering her. But mostly it's for humidity, as I don't trust it as much as my gun lol. Thank you though! I appreciate the advice :D

I just run my thermometer probe under the substrate without starving them because it makes cleaning easier. My snakes have never moved them though, I have them well trained. Lol!
