Just Checking About Shedding

Hi guys Im just making sure Ive got everything right since this is our first shed. :P

Plisskens eyes turned milky blue on monday night (thats when I saw them) I began misting the cage twice a day since than wich keeps the humidity at around 80-85%.

Also I have not handled him at all since, and correct me if Im wrong, I should not handle him till the shed is complete. If Im forgetting something please let me know. Lets hope for a nice clean shed.

Sounds like everything is fine to me. You're right to not handle him. If you HAD to handle him, it wouldn't harm him, but it would probably be unpleasant, to say the least. Shedding is a vulnerable time for them, so they tend to be stressed and edgey...and their skin is likely very sensitive, as well.

Some of them don't mind being handled when they're in shed-mode, but others definitely do. You can try it and see how he reacts if you want, but hands-off is just fine too.

my boa is in shed, i've just learned something about him. keep away during shed...


snakes vary though, like marla said. peanut will let me get her out when she's in blue mode.

Heh, Will, did you get tagged? Better watch that little guy! Snyder is going to shed again and she hissed at Jessica tonight because she didn't want to come out of Jess' sleeve. Grumpy. :)

ok. . . my shedding as well bet his are are clearing up what doesssss that mean? does that mean he/she is gunna shedd soon?

Yes, the eyes "go blue" then clear up anywhere from about 1 to 8 days before the shed actually occurs. The cloudy eyes only last a day or two. Now's a good time to boost your humidity.

That sounds good so far. Wait for the shed and see how he does. If he has a perfect shed, you'll know just what to do next time! If he has some problems getting some of the old skin off, then you'll know to make some additional adjustments next time. :)
