Question about the strength of an adult Burm

I was just wondering if an adult Burmese python could overpower an averaged size adult male if it ever decided to bite and wrap. I am not questioning how good of pet they make or their temperament as the tamest snake I have ever met was a big burm. I am just asking a hypothetical what if? I am still a newbie snake owner and just have a ball currently, but I would possibly like to have a bigger snake or two one day.

I would say yes a full grown adult burm could overpower one adult male especially if you put it around your neck. As long as you have another person there when handling it should not be a problem but alone it definitely could be.

Yes, especially a healthy one over the 9-10 foot range. Anytime a snake is over 8-10 feet, you need an additional person for every 5 feet above that mark on average. People will disagree and agree on this, but that's the general rule. I can handle a 13 ft solo as far as moving a calm one. But a pissed one . . . someone else better be at least watching if not helping move it.

Having said that, giants are an amazing breed of snakes, and extremely special to a lot of people. If you know what you're getting into, have the space, will, and finances to keep one, they are very rewarding. Just keep it tame, and always play it smart. If a snake says no, don't push it.

heck, my biggest male ball (1340 grams) is a strong guy. I let him sit on my shoulders, then he got around my neck. I'm not going to lie (as he was new to me), I was a bit worried. Having a large burm...I would not be surprised if it could over take an average medium adult.

I would say yes, especially if you're wearing rat cologne. :D

Agreed a 6 foot snake is strong let alone a 10 footer regardless of breed. I'm a pretty good sized guy at 5'10" 220 lbs but I wouldn't want to handle one on my own. If it did for some reason get any idea that you looked tasty for the moment, it would be a bad day.

Heres our male burm and I know he could over power me very easy. We never work with him with out at least 2 people there.

Is he generally very hand able?

Well, let's just say, you can't really comprehend the strength of a large constrictor without handling one. At least that's the way it was with me. I knew they were strong, but, when I first handled one, it was a lot different than I expected. Much stronger than a human. Much stronger. Always have more than one person when handling like others have said.

Uh i cant remember where i heard/read this but like there was some study done or something where they hooked up pressure sensors to a chicken and fed a large constrictor and the pressure from the squeeze it exerted was like the pressure of multiple buses per square inch. The even more incredible thing was the snake held the same amount of pressure for like 10-15 minutes or something. Which was really surprising to all the scientists. I wanna say they did the test with an anaconda. It was pretty cool stuff.
