Got a problem feeder eating like a champ!
In light of the negative post I had before, I want to post something that I did that is successful. I got a snake that was a real problem feeder to eat like a champ now.
The snake had eaten very sporadically, once every 5 or 6 weeks or so, and only took meals way to small for it, as in 1200 gram snake eat 40 gram mouse every 5 - 6 weeks. Anything larger scared it, even F/T. I tried all the usual things. She lost weight and I got concerned.
I then thought about how there were times when a snake was eating well and taken to my house and stopped eating for months, and then moved to my friend's house and started eating that night. So what I did was thought maybe the trip had something to do with it. I put the snake in a cloth bag (breathable one used for shipping snakes that I saved up) and took it out and went shopping and dining with a friend for a few hours. LOL Seriously I did that.
Keep in mind that the temperature here is very warm about 86 F outdoors, and the shopping mall temps were not high either I think around 83F. We also did a lot of shopping on street shops. The restaurant we sat outside. I would not take the snake out in cold weather or extremely hot weather.
When I came back, I put the snake in a different tub of the same rack.
The next feeding attempt, I first tried a small live mouse because I wasn't expecting anything. It ate it immediately. Then I tried a f/t rat, and it took that too! And the next week it kept eating the same doesn't matter mice, rat, live, f/t, it ate it as soon as I opened the tub. I fed only small ones so far so it took a few that's why I tried a few things. Next week I will try one large f/t rat.
This is what happened for me. I am not saying it will work for you. But I took another one that had skipped 3 meals in a row in the cloth bag outside also and we will see if it eats next week. I didn't take this one out for as long though I only took her to macdonalds to get my own food then went home.
