    Dimmer question
    Hi!

So based on the DIY rheostat/dimmer thread, I just tried hooking up my own dimmer switch. I bought one from Walmart and followed the thread as best I could. I got it working, it would turn the test light on and off, but it wouldn't dim it at all and somewhere in the middle of turning up the dimmer, the light would actually start to flicker.

Anyone know what I did wrong? I tried reversing the wires, but it was the same thing.

    Boy, I feel dumb!

I was just told I have to use dimmable light bulbs. I'll try that first!

Are you using the dimmer for a heating device or a heat lamp?

I was planning on hooking it up to the flexwatt when I get it as a back up to the thermostat.
