    Tub size for breeder females?
Are these adequately sized tubs for my girls?
They're all around 2000g and currently pigging out.

The tubs I've seen in breeding racks seem smaller but the girls really have no room to stretch out in them.

Are these okay for my snakes?

Anything longer or wider is usually really tall and the lids aren't extremely secure like these are.

Sorry for such a stupid question but this year is my first attempt at breeding and I don't want to screw up.

    :)

Those will work but I heavily dislike steralites. Check out some of the iris style boxes from the container store. http://www.containerstore.com/shop/s...3-ecbfbf0a2b1d

    Yes, these will work.

We use IRIS CB70 (41qt) tubs for all of our breeders.

These are what we use in racks, they are a good bit longer than the 40qt tubs,
and no handle to remove just have a gap letting out humidity.
I used locking lid 41qt tubs my first season, they work ok, but I really like the length of the 41qt underbed sterilite tubs.

They definitely work but just be ready for the possibility of them refusing to eat for a while after you move them into a new enclosure. (It happens.) So providing them with a hide in the extra space they now have to get used to can sometimes be a good idea.

The link I posted is what they're in now and have been for some time after removing them from much larger/taller tubs.
    [almost 3 feet long]
They're suddenly 'eating machines' so the long tubs must have started to "bother them" for some reason.
[just like Leon the Spider's 40 gallon display tank 'bothered him' after living very happily in it for nearly a year. he's now in one of the linked tubs and is eating again and not 'stressing out']

The girls each have their hides, still.

I don't have a rack system yet because hubby hasn't had time to help me throw everything out of the spare bedroom.

So, I have to use tubs with lids and these are the only ones I can find that have heavy, rigid lids that don't need clips/clamps/anything else.

I just want to be sure I'm not 'cramping' them.

That's similar to what I got at Sam's Club.

    I think this is it

    http://www.samsclub.com/sams/tennsco....ip?navAction=

    I used it side-by-side rather than upright and got 8' x 2' x 4'.
I can get 4 of the tubs I'm using on each level.

I need to get heat tape.

I'm using that stupid heat cord stuff you get at the pet stores and it's a misery to keep fooling with.

I have an expo this weekend so hopefully I can find some there at a sane price and hubby will take time to do the wiring for me.

Given the size of my tubs and following the 'one third' rule, I need at least 8" wide heat tape.
