    PayPal safe?
I found a good deal on pastel 270g female and spider ball 1250g female pythons and it seems like the seller isn't a big breeder. He has one positive review on fauna. Before I hand him $550, I wanted to know if it is safe to use Paypal? I did call Paypal and they said that they do not allow live animal dispute. What do you recommend? I'm sure this goes for everyone, I don't want to lose my money. :)

There is no way for us to meet so... the pythons will have to be shipped. Your thoughts?

I use paypal all the time. But I buy from reputable breeders so I have never had an issue.

He's not a reputable breeder. He has them as pets with intention to breed but he said he lost his job so he needs the money.

Ive bought from my favorite breeder alot and hes doesnt even have any reviews on fauna. Hes absolutely awesome though and produces some amazing animals. I would use your best judgement. Also keep all email records just in case.

I am on my first time using paypal. Seems to take for ever to get set up, and funds transferred, but really only a day or two so far. (At least seems that way when your waiting for a new snake!). So I don't have any "actual" experience with it yet.

I have used it lots of times from buying snakes, dubia roaches, supplies, paying a bill. It is safe, I have bought from big breeders ad from small companies no problems as of yet.

I think Paypal is safe to use but I'm more concerned about transferring the fund and never receiving the package. What about COD? I could transfer $100 as a deposit and pay the rest when they arrive. Do you think that is reasonable?

PayPal is safe. I've been using it for years on all of my online transactions and sometimes in person if they don't want cash.

It takes a while to set accounts up, but its easy sailing from there.
    Paypal app= win.

If I were selling a snake, I would want everything paid for before shipping the animal. Just in case the buyer just pays $100 deposit, gets the animal, and never pays the rest. I think you just need to trust the guy.
If you're really that uncomfortable, there's no harm in passing up the deal.

Paypal is safe in that the seller won't get any of your personal information (bank account/credit card numbers/etc.) And it does give you a paper trail to prove that you sent money to this guy. But it doesn't completely protect you from getting scammed. You will have the ability to report it, and file a police report, so chances are you should be able to have something done if the worst happens.

My biggest fear would be if this guy knows how to properly ship a live reptile. Not only are there regulations that need to be followed, but if shipped improperly you could have a dead snake. (but that isn't as likely this time of year) If you get a dead snake I doubt that you will have any legal backup, unless you get this guy to guarantee you a live arrival in writing

I have been scammed before and while PayPal won't cover live animal transactions my bank had no problem reversing the charge. I like PayPal because I can use my bank or credit card safely. In my case the seller wouldn't ship, but I got all my money back because I called my bank.

The thing I would be the most concerned about is how this person ships and if he will offer a live arrival guarantee. Those are important questions to ask.
