Massive headache and worry
So my ac decided to go out on me yesterday. I live in Oklahoma and thank goodness it is a bit cooler than it was several weeks ago. My snake room yesterday evening hit 86 degrees at it's peak and then cooled back to 83. This morning it was 81 in there before I left as the outside temp was 63. My biggest concern is not with my snakes themselves as the high today is 94 and I can keep fans going and unplug their heat tape and keep them at least comfortable as the air should be repaired later today or tomorrow at the latest. My biggest worry is with my clutch of eggs. Yesterday evening they stayed at 89. I worry that later today the room temp will become higher than the incubator and cause an increase in temp. I may just have to put the egg box out in the room itself with fans and hope and pray I can keep it under 90. Not a good day.
Re: Massive headache and worry
Unplug the heat tape and your snakes should be fine. It won't normally get as hot inside as the outside high (or at least not as quickly). I would leave the eggs alone, too. The insulation in the incubator should help shield it from external temperature increases for brief periods of time. Just close any doors that you can and keep the fans off in the room that has the incubator so the hotter air doesn't get into that space as quickly.
