feeding question

Ok. Went to the pet store and got a hopper mouse. Turns out he's on the larger side. When I got home realize that the hopper is just a bit bigger than the widest part of my ball. So, should I still feed him or just wait till tomorrow to get a smaller one? It's not a whole lot bigger, but just wanted some opinions. Thanks for any help!

Feed him. He'll be fine :)

If it is just a bit bigger you should be fine! It's good to see a slight bulge after they eat their meal...just nothing too large. As anyone else here will say if you have a scale then 10-15% of your snake's body weight is what you should be shooting for. If you don't have a scale it would be a wise investment both for feeding purposes and tracking the growth of your little one :). Good luck on the feeding and hope everything goes well!

As a side note most hatchlings can take a hopper mouse without a problem.

With mine I shoot for prey that's a little bit bigger than the widest point. Yours should be fine. :)

Thanks. I have a scale that I've been using, but am going to get a better digital one. I shoot for 15%, but may have over shot when I went to the pet store this week. All the other hoppers were really small so I said get the bigger one, but when I got home it seemed just a little big.

Try and feed it. Mine will generally not strike at something they think would be too big for them
