    Using your own packaging
Can I just buy regular brown shipping boxes and right live harmless reptile on them and ship them? Do I have to use the expensive shipping supplies if I use ship your reptiles? I would cut the foam for the inside and do it like the ones they sell it would just be brown with handwriting instead of white with perishable handle with care. Has anyone used there own boxes or knows if this is ok?

You can use any box with syr, and FedEx will put perishable and fragile stickers on the box for you.

ok cool. Does it have to say anything special or just live harmless reptile on it?

Also, does the 3/4 in insulation really matter with them or can it be 1/2 inch?

The box doesn't have to say anything. Not even live harmless reptile. Just print out your label and take it with you. And as far as the insulation goes, you are talking the safety of the animal, 1/2 will work but 3/4 is better.

ok, thanks but now that I figured out the price it seems it would be cost effective to just purchase the boxes. Thanks for your help!

Not sure how often you ship but that would be the best way to get a package open if any suspicion arise and the animal ceased due to improper labeling :gj:

You are required to mark the outside of the package as "wildlife" and have itemized paperwork (i.e. customer receipt) inside the top flap with more species information and quantities available for easy reference.

    Lacey act http://www.animallaw.info/statutes/stusfd16usca3371.htm

Are there people shipping without labeling their boxes? Yes but because they do does not mean people should.

How do I label my boxes.

    Wildlife - Live Harmless Reptile
Scientific name, common name and number of animals included in the box.

Deborah is spot on with labeling requirements but this is incorrect as well. A minimum 3/4'' insulation is mandatory NOT 1/2''.

Mandatory? From where have you gleaned this? Seems to me that if you don't need the extra thickness there's no reason to use it.

Depends on the temps...I would think 1/2 inch is fine in most cases...

You must have a box that states in some way Live harmless reptile for Fed-ex..More over you have to state for the Lacy Act the quantity and species of animals contained within the box http://www.shipyourreptiles.com/en/g.../#question-114

Please read and know all the rules required for shipping..it is a privilege and not a right.

I use a 200# burst rated box and 1/2" close cell polystyrene insulation, if the temps are super cold I won't ship so 1/2" is perfectly exceptionable to maintain temps that are ok to ship in.
