My oldest daughter
OMG. My oldest daughter is headed to rehab and detox for heroine abuse. I just found this out today. No, she does not live with me, she lives with her father. What in the world am I supposed to do now and what in the hell do I say to her besides I love you and I am here for you????? She is only seventeen years old and I am lost.

Wow, I'm sorry! I don't really know what I would say if it was me. Probably like you said "im here for you".
I hope she gets better and turns her life around!

Wow, that's scary. I hope she can get clean and straighten her life out. I honestly don't know what I would say. Reassure her that you love her and are there for her. Sorry to hear that.

Thats a hard one.
If she wants the help: "I'm here for you"
If she doesnt want the help then sometimes you just have to sit back and wait.

The best thing you can do is be there for her.. Addiction is a crazy thing, she is going to be in a world of for the next week or 2.
If she truly wants to get better she will have to make amends to all that she has effected.
Be her mom her friend and love her unconditionally

Ouch :( That is not fun!
I really hope rehab can help her. Drug addiction is a scary thing. Once you are down that path it is hard to escape.
You have the right idea. Be supportive, but don't be an enabler. Don't let her fall back into addiction once she is out. The best thing you can do for her is be supportive, but make sure she knows that being an addict is not the right life for her.

Support her and be there for her. Be thankful shes still a minor. She can get clean now while shes still in your care. My cousin is 23 now and has been in and out of rehab. The problem is since shes over 18 she can check herself out whenever and my aunt cannot call and check on her. She can only talk to her if my cousin calls her. Since your daughter is still a minor though pretty much whatever you and her father decide on goes. (Assuming you have joint custody).

Another thing..
It's not easy !!!
Remember it's not going to be easy on you or her.
And Mike, I'm not sure of the situation but with most rehabs there is a detox period where contact is not permitted.
I am unsure of how it works in the us but I know in Canada even a minor can sign themselves out.. Unless it is court ordered.
Did she sign herself in, or was it ordered b a judge?

She signed herself in. So she can sign herself out. But when she was 17 or 16 she went in too, not for heroin, and she was not able to check herself out. I would highly doubt that a minor would be able to check themselves outta rehab but i could be wrong.

Heroin is nasty. Her next few weeks are going to be HELL. Poor thing.
Tell her to be brave and that what she's decided to do is a very courageous thing. (the detox, not the addiction)
