Tub Help !

I plan on getting my 440 gram about 3 foot ball python a 28 qt tub is this good? Also I dont know how to maintain the ambient temperature if in a tub you can only use a heat pad?

The ambient temperature of a tub is determined by the temperature of the room that the tub is in... a heated room is usually required to successfully keep reptiles in tubs. Having the tub in an enclosed/insulated rack will help but even still the room should be kept at least 75 degrees.

a 28 quart tub should be ok, just make sure that the heat pad is being regulated by a thermostat... they are NOT optional.

Alright thanks my rooms is usually about 75-80. Also I need to get a thermostat asap because i have a heat pad right now for his 10 gallon tank and the temps spike up to 108 sometimes ! So now that I know this Im acting as a human thermostat and unplugging it and plugging it back in as needed. I dont have the money for a thermostat so this is my only choice.

You can pick up a lamp dimmer ($10): it won't regulate the heat pad at a certain degree and will fluctuate with the temps in the room, but you can monitor it with a temp gun and adjust it accordingly in the meantime.

The thermostats I get are $115, but I believe there's a Hydrofarm thermostat on Amazon that's ~$30? I don't have a link since I haven't ordered one but that's an option too.

I have noticed something with my ball pythons .. I have 2 racks, one has 66cm x 51cm tubs ment for adults, the other rack holds 27cm x 37cm tubs (ever since my BPs were little I held them in these tubs) .. when my pythons reached about 850g I decided to move them to the big tubs - every BP in 850g radius decided to go on a hunger strike .. only my adult females (1400g+) continue to eat normally in the big tubs .. after about 3 weeks I decided to move my 850g-ish snakes back to the small tubs, which some would say are too small for them at this point .. and would you know it, they started eating again
so what I wanted to say is: smaller tubs are better .. snakes feel more secure, hides aren't needed in the smaller tubs -> everybody wins :)

So what size in qt should i get for my about 500 gram male about 3 feet long??
