    I have been breeding asfs for a few months now but im still not sure when to take the rats away from momma i have just been watching them and waiting until i see them off the mom is that right or is there a certian amount of time to remove

    After there eyes are open and they are eating on their own. As a basic rule. Some remove sooner then others. I prefer to wait 1 week-2 weeks after they are eating solo to remove. I find it helps make tamer animals.

    I usually wean my asf's at 5 weeks. Since they grow slower than normal rats, I have great success with keeping them alive when weaned at the minimum of 5 weeks and max 6 weeks.

    I pull them as soon as their eyes are open all the way. I have had problems with the parents eating them if I leave them in any longer than that. Seems to be working well.
