    Should i feed them more?
Hey guys hope everyones having a good week!

Quick question- How many people feed their smaller snakes more often and at what point do you stop the every 4-5 day schedule and move up to every 7-10 days?

I only ask bc my two newer little girls, lesser and OG, are being fed every 7-10 days like all my other snakes. Ive noticed though that they get hungry like two days before any of my other snakes do. By hungry i mean i see them roaming around their tubs at nite like 4 days after they ate instead of 6-8 days after like my 4 other bigger ones. Theyre still gaining weight fine so i know im not starving them but im just curious how many people do a shorter feeding schedule for babies? Ive always been a huge advocate of just feeding every 7-10 days and not do special schedules but im curious what other peoples thoughts are.

    Thanks, Mike

Boy, I couldn't pinpoint a weight or age when I went to every 7 days. If they are up and roaming, what the heck, feed em. I think once they get a wee bigger, and you don't see the roaming, then you can decide to push to 7 days. I tell you what though, my bee knows when day 7 is and you don't dare miss it. I had eveybody off on goofy feed days due to shed and what not, thought I would make her wait and extra day so I could make one trip to get rats (Don't have any big enough rats or Asf's here atm). Boy was she not happy with me. She's an absolute pig. I think you can tell when they are ready. Sorry I don't have a better "concrete" answer for ya.

My breeder feeds his babies and told me to do so as well every 4 days. Once they get up into about the 300 gram mark I think he said you can switch to 7-10 days, but I may wrong about when to switch. I will let someone else put in some input on when to switch. But yes, feed every 4-5 days until the size someone suggests then switch!

With my first BP I religiously fed every 5 days until he reached 400 grams then he was on a 7-10 day schedule. Now that my collection has grown (4.3 balls, a dumerils boa, sunglow boa, western hognose and a corn) I feed most of them every 7 days. My 2 boas eat closer to every 10 days though. I don't want/need to pack te weight on those girls. They already grow so fast on their own!

I have only raised a handful of hatchlings but from my experience I just feed them smaller meals every 3 and 4 days Monday and Thursday until they decide they want to eat every week. My most recent my spinner just started to slow down feeding and shes pushing 800g for a December 2011 baby. Ill probably put her on a once a week schedule for now on though and instead of rat pups jump her up to small rats. I dont see any harm in feeding them as much as they want to eat to a certain extent if your not forcing them down there throat why not.

Everyone gets fed every 7 days. My younger snakes will sometimes get a extra meal on feeding days. You could try a slightly bigger meal on feeding days(like 15% body weight). Every snake is different, they all grow at their own rate.
