Conflicting morph/genetic information... could use some clarification ;)
I've been told now by two different reptile shop owners that butters and lessers are the same morph. One of them told me that basically they are the same, but were produced by two different guys from the same genetics...

However, everywhere I look they are separate - for instance on the genetics calculator you have them both listed, so I am confused... someone please stop me from going crazy trying to figure it out lol.

    Thanks guys!
Ohh, and Hi - I'm Justin, nice to meet you all

they essentially have the same genetics, therefore they are the same snake.

Just for my information, why are they considered separate then? For instance, the calculator says you get 50% normal, 25% butter, 25% lesser. I mean if they are the same, they are the same... no arguments from me - I guess I am just asking why the separation then.

because the lesser was discovered by Ralph Davis Reptiles in 2001. and butters were discovered at the same by Reptile Industries. I guess because they didn't know that they had the same genetics at the time. And therefore they were different to them. then when they breed them, they realized that they were essentially the same morph. By then i guess it was too late to say one was lesser or butter

Well as the other guy stated, butters and lessers are pretty much the same mutation but proved out by different people. Then they were named. Kinda like bananas and coral glows as well as phantoms and mystics. Even the latest "tangerine" from ralph davis is looking like a new line of the same genetic morph already established "orange dream".

There are still people out there who consider them different morphs, so it's only proper to name them for what they are. Their combos look the same, they have the same super, they are identical in every way. Obviously no 2 will look the same.. Heck 2 butters can look completely different from each other ..

From what I understand, the two are the same but different in what they can do to other morphs.
It is an arguement that will go on for decades from now.

I believe they do different things to certain combos while essentially they are the same. For instance I believe the butter does something a little different to the enchi than a lesser does and I am more partial to the "bunchi" than the lesser enchi... But it is indeed an argument that will live on for ages!
