5 1/2 Month Hunger Strike - Over
Just a quick message to all of the new and concerned keepers and a quick sigh of relief...
Our male Spinner decided after 5 1/2 months of refusing food he wanted to eat tonight. We dropped in a rat and before the rat hit the bedding he hit it like a ton of bricks. Just goes to show that as long as your snake is healthy and your husbandry is up patience and persistence pays off.
That being said, it is much more painless when they eat week after week! :D

I'm used to them going off feed now. When I first started in the hobby I knew it was typical for ball pythons to be picky eaters, but it still got to me the first time one of mine decided not eat for an extended period of time.

By hunger strike all I meant was that this particular snake decided go off food for an extended period of time, I figured everyone would get the gist... I believe historically and by definition a 'Hunger Strike' has nothing to do with the act of 'starving', instead it was used as method of non-violent resistance or protest. Not saying my Spinner has any political motives as to why he decided not to eat, just saying. ;)
