Flexwatt and an oil filled heater for the room are the most effecient. There is an argument for using heat cable (water resistant makes it easier during cleaning) and UTH (UL, CSA approved if your insurance and legal issues are concerned) in the end it doesn't matter much as long as you have the correct hot spot and cool/ambient temps.

Us Cannuks have more issues with Flexxwatt than others. If you burn down your place with Flexxwatt your on the hook big time.

If you can avoid it, great.

Melamine is probably your cheapest option, and your easiest to work with.

If you have facebook check out Mike Lopez to get ideas. His are as basic as they come, it's what I have, but it's easy as hell to make. I am lazy and would rather someone else make it for me. And his design works great! One of the best racks I ever owned.

    Goodluck!
    Cheers.

That is for sure! In Canada if you are a business you must have an electrician do the wiring or at least inspect and approve it. Criminal negligence causing... carries jail time... and/or mondo fines! I used flexwatt in my rack and paid my cousin (electrician) to inspect it and I'll never do that again. Too costly.
