    SUPER stubborn ball help
    Hey guys,
So I have a female pinstripe around 1000 grams. She has ate pretty well for me in the past (live only) but recently she has refused to even consider food. Nothing in the tank has changed the hot spot is 90 and the ambient is around 80-82. humidity is around 55. I've tried live rats, live mice, prekilled rats and mice. f/t and assist feed and all attempts failed. Anyone have any advice or tips? I want to get her feeding really well for this upcoming breeding season.
    Thanks

I hear its common for snakes to go off feed once they hit around the 1000 gram mark.

And you shouldn't assist feed an adult. There's really no need and it causes unnecessary stress. Assist feeding is more for new hatchlings.
Have you tried braining the feeders? How about offering an ASF?

Has she lost any weight? If she isn't losing any weight, then you shouldn't really worry yet.

Offer her once a week, she will eat when she wants to. Contrary to popular belief there is no "season" they will breed year around.

My 2010 male has been on a hunger strike for over 3 months now. That strike started right when he hit 1000g. He has lost some weight and is down to 875 but he will eat when he is ready to eat.

dont worry about it to much. i have a male pied that i got 26 days ago that will not eat, he will defensive strike, or grab and wrap but not eat, previous owner said he would go off feed(he also feed f/t till he stopped eating then went to live, now im try to make sure i can get him back to f/t) and a female albino who hasnt eaten in 3 weeks but has gained 4 grams:confusd:. they will eat when they are hungry

It's okay, I have one of those too (a stubborn ball). For all the time and energy we put into making sure everything in their environment is perfect, we still can't control their behavior. She'll eat when she's hungry, just keep offering and don't worry about her. And yeah, assist feeding should never be attempted with a healthy, well-adjusted snake. The stress and risk involved just isn't worth it.

Very common. I have a male that for about 1 year, would only eat every 2-3 months, now he is ravenous.

My bigger concern, a 1000g female today should not be bred this upcoming under any circumstances.
I cannot imagine any 1000g specimen gaining 500g in 90 days!
