"I would rather face a black bear than a python"
Oh really? Ignorance is bliss I suppose.

Why can't anything this cool happen to me.

If he had ever met an angry black bear face-to-face, I'm sure his quote would be like: "I'd rather face a python than a black bear!"

    Some people

Then again, those snakes are something I would consider too large for me to comfortably handle. I probably wouldn't go and pick it up either. But that doesn't mean I'm afraid of it.

Maybe if you had a narrower outlook on life and animals, these kinds of things would happen to you? Seems like these critters seem to always find the biggest skeptics.

Since we work with snakes we don't understand because we see them different. It's also common for people to exaggerate. I could see my self saying I would rather deal with a bear than a tarantula not because I actually believe the statement but because I have an irrational fear of them.

I don't think this guy is an idiot, I think he really doesn't like snakes.

too bad he didn't catch it himself, then sell the snake for $8,000.

Why do they always assume these snakes are released? I just -cannot- picture any keeper I've known letting their snakes go. If anything it would make sense that they escaped and the owner is too scared to call the cops and let them know...

It's a pet peeve of mine, they could have been released, but that's never the norm

They might have escaped, but I doubt it. I could see maybe my 5 foot ball python getting out and then some how finding her way outside, but I doubt it and I doubt a 15ft python could pull it off either. This was NJ so I doubt they were housed outside. The most likely scenario is that they were release intentionally.

Recently in WI someone went to a state park and release 3 reticulated pythons, it was a huge mess. People have intentionally released their snakes before and will continue to do so in the future and those people, how ever few and far between they are, give us all a bad name. :(

I believe this story is made possible by the expansion of the Lacy Act. I'm assuming the Albino Python is actually a Burmese Python. Carrying it across state lines could result in a felony. People moving leave cats and dogs all the time, now we see how this law is creating the exact thing it is designed to prevent. This idiot ex-keeper is giving another black eye to reptile keepers.:frustrate:rainon::explosion:bonk::angered:

Well, in the same vain, I cannot imagine a dog owner letting their dog off in the middle of nowhere or just leaving their dog behind to fend for itself when they move to as new place. I can't imagine putting a box of puppies in a cardboard box and sitting them by a dumpster or on a random street corner. But these things happen everyday. Some people see their pets as just another piece of property and treat them as such.

In this case, one animal could have been an escape. But two would indicate intent.
