Update on my first BP!! :D
So I got my first normal BP 9 days ago (named Max), and thanks to all the brilliant advice here I am sure I have a happy snake.
His temps and humidity are spot on and I didn't handle him for the 9 days that I have had him (it's been hard lol but I listened to all the advice here)

So just now (it's night time here in SA) I gave him a F/T fuzzy mouse and he seemed mildly interested but not enough to bother with it (left it there for 40 mins). So I decided to "expose the brain" :rolleye2:
(for clarification, it was a dead, F/T mouse, just in case anyone was worried I was doing horrible things to a live mouse)

So I moved the mouse close to him (using feeding tongs) and boy did he strike it hard and fast. He obviously loves the smell of brains lol

So I am a happy owner now that he has had his first meal. Thank-you for all the advice in all the posts.

So I will leave him alone for a few days (just spot cleaning, water and misting when needed) and maybe try a very short handling session after a few days. I will only do proper handling sessions once he has fed a few times.

    Thanks again :snake: :taz::banana:

    Another update :

He ate his second meal last night and this time I did not need to expose the brain. Seems like a happy BP

Should switch him over to Rats, You will find he does better on them !!

On a side not I like to get a little blood from the nose at feeding time, I find that gets the best reaction haha

I haven't weighed him yet.. What size rats should I get? Rat pups or fuzzies or..? I have never dealt with rats before as I've only had corn snakes and king snakes before.
Should I weigh him before deciding on rats?
    Thanks for the help :D

    Scale your snake (empty)

And pick up some rats with in the 10-15% range if it's fuzzies or pups as long as its in the weight range you should be good.

My Normal was on Mice when I got him, took a rat his first feed and will now not touch a mouse

I would get a scale and feed him rat pups or crawlers that are 10-15% of his body weight every 5 days. Congrats on the zombie snake!

I would say every 4 days

My guys go from a 7 day schedule one month and a 4 day schedule the next month

And the 4 day feeding schedule was something I picked up from a few people here
