Don't cut anything out of the cooling system unless you have had it professionally drained, or you will be seriously violating EPA regulations, along with risking some yucky chemical burns.

That model is very similar to the ones I use. There is a back plate on the inside, four caps cover the screws, you can pop the caps off to get to the screws which will remove the whole back plate.

All the hoses run top to bottom through that back plate, after I was done stripping out everything from the back it looked like this.

Put on a t-stat and test it out!
