Scale rot i think

I just picked up a super pastel and i think she has scale rot its a dark brown buildup underneath one scale and the scale looks a little messed up i have pics but it wont let me attach them

You say a single scale? What substrate are you using? It is a possibility that it is a small bit of substrate under a scale too. It sounds more likely if it is a single scale than rot which is usually a lot of scales.

Scale rot is also often caused by injury or filth buildup in the enclosure, it is similar to trench foot in humans (sort of) it does not just happen it points to poor husbandry much of the time.

It was on paper towels and the condition of the cages were horrible the smell the feces and urine it looked like it hasnt been cleaned in a long time

It's hard to say from that picture. It could be something stuck under the scale, or it could be the begining of scale rot. I would get some betadine to wash the area with. Meanwhile keep the snake on clean paper towels to stop it from spreading.

If it starts to get worse after the next shed I would take the snake to the vet.

I don't see any reddening around it, it could be just a small cut or something, too.

The picture is small, but it looks minor. It does look like it's just a bit of dirt or something under it. Can you try flushing it with water?
If it is scale rot, it should clear up with the next shed.

I too might try flushing with some clear water and see if it helps. If it is something under the scales you can often see that it is an object if you carefully lift that scale slightly.

I havent done anything yet i was trying to figure out what it is ill check and see if it dirt i have iodine wipes can i use those to wipe the area if it some kind of infection
