    Tub size
Hello, i am looking forward to getting my first ball python. I will be getting a baby and i am just wondering what size tub and set up i should have.
    Thanks

    Daybreaker
I know a lot of people start with 5-15 qt tubs for the little ones, but I use 28qts without problems: I just add lots of fake plants and crumpled up newspaper to make the snake feel secure (along with the two hides).

    My list of Tub sizes:
    6 qt - for hatchlings
    16 qt - 500 or less grams
    28/32 qt - 2000 or less grams
    41 qt - 2000 + gram adults

You want the heat pad to cover around 1/3 of the tub.
So the small size of petstore heat mats should be fine for a hatchling, but be prepared to upgrade soon as babies grow pretty fast.
    Buying heat tape is cheaper.
