    I also recommend a corn snake. They don't get too big, there are some awesome colour strains out there. They are very docile and easy to keep :)

    What do you mean by "kinda on the smaller size"? And what do you mean by "cool looking" - bright colors, odd pattern, etc.?

    Retics stay small, compared to a buss :). I would say look at ball, corns, hogs, garters, milks, any colubrids.
