Oh dear... I need help with our Mystic clutch
When looking at these guys all mashed up in the egg, I thought they looked fairly obvious to be Mystics... I double checked the logs, and the dam was only ever bred to a mystic, but wanted to make sure I didn't have a 'Mystic or Mojave?' conundrum. Well now everybody is out of the egg.. and as I look at them, I feel like they look terribly like lessers. Here are a couple photos of two of the 'Mystics' up close, and then a group picture next to 3 unrelated definite and guaranteed lessers.

There were a couple days towards the end of incubation where the temps in the incubator got up to 93, and we had nothing to cool them down with other than opening up the incubator and fanning everybody out.

Keeping in mind that the 3 lessers have had their first shed, and the other babies only just crawled out of the egg... is this a case of sperm retention, or do I have some interesting Mystics? Lessers aren't the end of the world... but definitely not something we were after.

I own one Mystic and one Lesser. Those look like my Lesser. Sorry you didn't get what you were expecting. But like you said, Lessers aren't so bad.:snake:

Did you ever breed her to a lesser in the past?

This is our first year breeding her, so it's possible she was bred to a lesser last season. She was on a breeding deal, with a friend's mystic.. and he's usually the king of recordkeeping, touting diligence. So it's also possible he made a mistake and put the lesser in with her and never marked it down. Maybe Mr. Diligence isn't quite so diligent.. but who knows. At least they're good looking lessers.

I've seen other freshly hatched mystics too, and in the egg, all gooey and gross, without lessers even being on my mind, I though 'yeah mystics!' then they climbed out and I think I was just in disbelief.
