Possible het percentage

this one has me a bit stumped.

What's got ya stumped? Looks pretty typical to me. Of course in the calculator it assums the 66% het is a 100%het based on the offspring potential... if you really want to you can break it down a bit further and make things more complicated, sure, but for generalizations this is a good and to the point key!

that's part of the thing that confuses me
I have no idea how to determine what the offspring outcome can be, and what percentage het. they'll be.
All I know is simple things like, pastels, normals, and super pastels could come from them, with the possibility of hets but I have no idea how to work from there.
I avoid anything that's not 100% het for that reason, because it confuses me.

If you use 66% chance het, than you have a 33% chance of 50% being het, my numbers may be wrong here but that should generate 17.5% Het per young . . .

the calc is just simply doing the results for a pastel het clown to a pastel. it does not let you put in possible het parents. you can however get possible het results by clicking the pos het output button.

Pastel 66% Het Clown x Pastel all the offsrping will be 33% het, since half of them statistically should get the gene if it is het. but there is a 33% chance it is not even het in the first place. so add it together you got a 66% chance of not being het aka 33% possible het (the missing 1% is due to rounding).

Possible possible hets are different in that being a generation removed from a known het there is the chance they don't have a chance. But basically you half each generation if the gene chance is only in one parent so the offspring of a 66% het are 33% hets and the offspring of a 50% het are 25% hets. That would only work out with the offspring of a large number of possible hets though, for each individual possible het it is either is a het or not but since you don't know these percentages are the best we can do. I've proven three 25% chance het pied girls and a 33% chance het caramel girl but of course I used the markers to cheat with the pied project.

I think the reason the calculator does what it does is because in reality a 66% possible het is either a 100% het if it proves out or not a het at all if it doesn't. The reason people buy possible hets is, if you can get a group for a decent price, you can really luck out. Especially if you do it with high end stuff. And I have to say, I never put much stock in "possible possible" hets, but I just proved out my Het Pied male as Double Het Albino Pied and he was something like 12.5% possible het Albino (100% het Pied). So it happens...

thats awesome, and by doing that, you also proved out the generations before to also be het albino. congrads
