BP age

When i bout my BP from petsmart on may 29th i could have sworn the lady told me she was 7 months old. shes about 18 1/2 inches and about 50 grams. she has only ate about half of a life mouse before regurging the rest due to high temps in her cage.. this is my first snake and i was using dial therm/hyg and everythin was off. Now that ive learned alot form this forum i have her setup in a 15qt tub and her temps and humidity are borderline perfect and i have two digital therms along with an accurite therm/hyg. i was wondering if it is a realistic assumption that she is about 7 months old.. the length sounds about right but 50 grams seems wayyy to low. i tried fuzzies for the first month before switching to live (which she gulped right up). she regurged 2 thursdays ago so she will probably be fed either tomorrow or wednesday (almost 2 weeks) since the regurg. she seems perfectly healthy and not stressed.. never has tried to bite or hasnt acted too too weird. Does this size to age ratio sound possible or is she probably younger?

I'm not really sure about the answer to your question, however I'm in a very similar situation. I rescued a "six month old" female normal. She weights 49g now. Seems small to me. But she was already malnurished and dehydrated so I'm not really sure what her age is. It would be interesting to figure out just how old our babies are.

How sad, someone on the forum recently rescued a 2 or 3 year old bp who was less then 400 grams O.O It's so sad, poor babys :(

I don't know about your babies, but I am seeing a lot of hatchlings weight in at 50g and 60g. I have heard of very small babies being closer to 30g. I have heard of pet stores only feeding babies enough to keep them alive hoping they will stay small so they will sell easier, but by no means do all pet stores do this. And some people believe that snakes only need to eat once every month or two, crazy as that is. So don't know if any of this helps.

It is possible. I rescued a ball python that was a year old and only weighed 92 grams.

Spitting out the prey is not the same as swallowing. Unless it's all the way in their belly for a period of time it isn't a regurg.

Sounds like your snake is nowhere close to 7 months old. It would be dead it it has only been 50g for 7 months. It is probably less than a few months old but it is impossible to tell.

It was a regurg. It happened 2 days later amd the top half of te mouse was gone

Sounds younger to me as well but my babies hatched out at 74g.

I am inclined to say it's not 7 months. 7 weeks maybe..
