Your thoughts on what this boy might be?
Hello! I received this boy with a normal and was told by the owner he was a hypo. I think colors are nice and he keeps a sheen/luster about him. Your thoughts?

Wow he does have that hypo look. Very cool looking! Get some pictures in better lighting. That picture is kinda foggy-lookin. That's important because ghosts are supposed to be faded.

^^^^ Agreed. Some better pictures in natural light (no flash) would give us a more solid idea of what we're looking at with this boy

Here's another. I own a store in Virginia and resell reptiles. My son is considering breeding so we are thinking of keeping him, we would like to be more confident about what he is.

Thank you everyone! He is a great snake! Now we have to decide where he will fit in to a future program. Its funny- Im 40 and just started carrying reptiles at my store. i wanted to be different and carry livestock that customers wouldnt see in other stores. Now we`ve started getting some ball pythons and i just want to keep them all! Occupational hazard! :)

He does look hypo -- the problem with hypo, though, is that not all bloodlines are "compatible," and it can be very difficult, if not impossible, to tell which line you have if you don't know for sure. (If two hypos aren't "compatible," when you breed them together you will get all normal babies that are "double het for hypo.")

Some "orange ghosts" are screaming orange, but for others that are more ambiguous, it could be a bit of a gamble.

Good luck with him! Ball Pythons do seem to be quite addictive ... Much moreso than other snakes, I've found :O

    Definitely a hypo.

I'm not personally aware of a bunch of incompatible hypo lines in ball pythons. So far as I know, it's just 'ghost' and 'desert ghost' (which really doesn't look the same), that are incompatible?
