Anyway I was wondering what lubricant you use when probing your snakes? I have heard all kinds of things from olive oil, KY, vaseline ect. I was just curious what you all thought?

Use a water based lubercant. Petroleum jelly is....wait for it....petroleum based. That's the same stuff you put in your car. I don't want that in my snake.

Vaseline is used for babies and skin care all over the world for decades. I did a little research and found this gem:

"Vaseline was discovered by a New York chemist, Robert Chesebrough. He found a thick sticky substance blocking oil rigs which stopped drilling and was considered to be a nuisance. He ate a spoonful a day for "good health" and lived to the age of 96. "

Since it has been around since 1872 and has not been proven harmful, I think I'll keep using it. If it is good enough for my kids butt, it is good enough for my snakes! :D

I'm trying to follow the line of thinking that discovers thick goop blocking up oil rigs and decides to eat it. It's a marvel he lived to 96, who knows what else he ate?

What kind of person goes "hmm there's this weird greasy stuff all over this oil rig....I'm gonna eat it!" ?!?!

I personally would go for a water based lube. The kind folks at Fascinations could recommend a brand I'm sure. I would love to see their faces when you asked their advice on this matter:D
