Easier cage locks

Hello i was wondering if theres an easier way to keep the lid on my BP tank right now im using two hardback Cabelas books on them and it can be a hassle at times to open it I mean I can live with it but Just wondering what your guys ideas might be.

If you are using a glass tank with a screen top, most pet stores have clips that will hold them on.

The clips can cause damage, just so you're aware. Personally, someone suggested using luggage straps previously. $7 per strap... Probably four needed to get around most tanks. You'd be able to unbuckle and go pretty easily, and they would be secure. Personally, it would look more 'tidy' than stuff stacked on top. Might be worth a shot too.

What type of damage are you referring to? I wonder because I planned on using the screen clips on my bp tank.

I've picked up two tanks in the past that used metal clips to keep the top on. Both showed signs of scratches and scrapes from where the clips had been put on and removed so many times. They were both from different sellers, so it kind of stuck out at me a little more. I decided not to use the clips in the end (I threw them out) and went with the strap set-up. Worked well. I basically had the main part of the strap underneath each side of the tank, with the buckles connecting on top. When I undid them, the straps would fall to the side and leave me free to open the tank. Securing the top was just a matter of clipping them back together. I liked that a little more than those clips. But that's just my experience with them :)

Ah, so scrape damage to the tank / lid. I can live with that. My tank is god knows how old anyways, not too worried about wear and tear. Hopefully will be moving to a rack system in a year or so. (you know, so I have a good reason to get more snakes :P )

the scrape damage is minimal...and nothing a sharpie can't take care of for resale value :P

get the clips they sell at petco...cheap and effective
