Are Female ball pythons lighter then males?

Well i got my new BP check by a vet and its a girl. She has no major parasites and no mites, no ticks. The scar on her back is from a bite of somekind and she gave me some antibiotic cream to make sure it does not get infected but she said it will heal with no problem just to keep the temp up a little. She has good weight 390 grams 26" long. But i did notice that she is lighter in color then Jojo my male BP. Has anyone else noticed this to be true?

Glad to hear you got her checked out and everything is fine! As for the colors..."normal" bp's come in a wide range of colors and patterns. I think they're like fingerprints or snowflakes...no two are exactly identical. I've never heard that the sex of the snake makes any difference in color or pattern.

So...do you plan to try breeding them when they are mature?

I do plan on breeding them. I want to find a couple of adult BP's so i can already get some babies. In my opinion i think its every ball pythons owners duty to breed them to help save these beautiful animals in the wild.

Now that you mention it.... Females in general do tend to be lighter colored. Then again this is based on the females I've owned, 2, possibly three :)

my male is a real high gold i don't think sex has ne thing to do with color

Both of our males are lighter than our female, but Hanover is the lightest of the three.

I know that females are much larger then the males but do females tend to have larger heads even when they are juveniles? Is it also true that males have larger spurs then females?

I don't know about head size being related to sex, but yes, males are supposed to generally have larger spurs.
