    RI vs. disinfectant
I have a couple of tubs that I used a while back with a snake that I rescued that had a RI. I'm not sure of the specific bacteria, but the culture showed that Baytrill would work (and it did).

I have 2 tubs that, that snake was using. If I clean them with chlorahexidine (sp?) will that kill whatever bacteria is on the tubs? I'd hate to give another snake the RI, but I also don't see the point of throwing out the tubs.

Make sure you mix the ChlorHex fresh. Spray it down liberally and then let it air dry - do not wipe it off. Spray it down once more to be sure and then go ahead and rinse it will with water. It's fine.

That's what I usually do. I go through about 8L of the mix each week, so being fresh is never an issue :) But will it kill RI bacteria??

Definitely - it kills anything that would cause illness.

I would do that and maybe even let it cook in the sun for a while if you are that worried. But I think that once cleaned, w.e remaining bacteria, if any, would die due to not having anything to feed itself.
